Collection: Romero Bi Yuu Technique: Jacquard weave Material: recycled Pet and recovered cotton Made in Mexico
This Kitchen table collection is inspired by the afternoons in the countryside. It's a series of essential cloths covering your hands, food, and tableware with soft waffle textures.
Through Bi Yuu´s accessory textile lines, we challenge ourselves by questioning the theme of social design, not only from the angle of the craftsman or designer but also that of the consumer and urban impact. This line honors daily life and its rituals. Inspired by the table and the kitchen as spaces of collective love shared with family and friends, these are more accessible pieces in terms of economics and space and maintain the same principles that have always characterized Bi Yuu. It is also about proving to ourselves that it is possible to democratize design, expand our horizons, and bring social design to an urban environment.
We work with Retoño Textil, a social reintegration project, to help ex-prison women in Mexico City. This has allowed us to explore the social issue differently and get closer to other communities with very different characteristics that have contributed similarly to our project.
For this new collection, we use the Jacquard weave technique, the execution of which has also been a challenge for our design team and the local industry. Thanks to this effort, we have developed best practices with our partners that guarantee us high-quality results.
