Client: Estudio Atemporal Project: Legado by Cielito Café Year: 2023 -2024
We were commissioned by the architecture firm Estudio Atemporal to create woven structures for the ceiling of the new space at Cielito Café, a 100 percent Mexican company that has successfully established itself in the local Mexican market. Through our collaboration, we aim to promote an experience of beauty and relaxation that connects visitors with the nature and history of coffee.
The development was inspired by the basketry used for harvesting coffee beans, which is unfortunately almost obsolete due to its replacement with plastic. Within the ritual of this craft, its tools have their own weaving history, playing with a wide variety of basketry techniques and natural materials that embrace the coffee cherry with rhythmic textures. Part of the objective was to bring this poetry to a large-scale format, making the structures interact with the lighting design to create a shadow experience similar to the shade provided by a tree.
