Over the last five years, water shortages have significantly affected crops and the harvesting of natural pigments in Mexico. Today, some of the materials we previously considered sustainable are no longer so due to our local conditions.
To stand against this challenge, over the last five years, our studio has focused on the development of circular colors from organic residue -mainly avocado- and in working exclusively with seasonal dyes. This way, our color palettes reflect the rhythms of nature.
For this commission, we created Brote, a collection that celebrates simplicity and the essence of beauty. Through the creation process, we aimed to cultivate a sensitive, emotional connection between the final client and Rosetta’s kitchen, awakening curiosity and awareness of our environment through everyday objects dyed with the restaurant's avocado residues.
Brote (sprout) Cycle, life, transformation.
The concept behind “Brote” arises from observing and contemplating nature’s cycle of life. We find it poetic how, after a fruit or plant dries, it shares an apparent lifelessness that nonetheless reveals nature's capacity for rebirth. On the avocado residues lives an unexpected color, a discreet beauty that invites us to look again and rediscover. This way, we recall that everything forms part of a cycle in constant transformation.
The kitchen, with its warmth and intimacy, became our point of reflection. Its architecture inspired us—the walls that cradle memories, the tiles that gather patina and texture as time passes, quietly recording history and character. We translated these impressions into gentle curves on the pattering, spontaneous dyed patterns, and delicate ornaments, shaping a textile language that speaks of place and memory
