Our design process begins with the creation and careful selection of our materials.

NOur raw materials are threads and pigments. We care about knowing the origin, and the process behind each one. We work with the best raw materials available because it is what guarantees the best results when dyeing, weaving and creating textures. Our design department collaborates closely with the industry to bring sensitivity to its processes and thus obtain better results in materials.

Threads

We use mostly wool —a natural, recyclable and biodegradable fiber—, as well as cotton and jute. We use Lincoln, Merino, and New Zealand fibers, which are characterized by the length of the fiber and the low waviness. Beyond the origin of our yarns, it is important for us to bring the finest materials to our weavers to achieve the best results in their fabrics.

Seeking to innovate and explore other alternatives, we have also experimented with bamboo silk, high quality cotton, jute and recycled PET fibers.

Pigments and dyes

We use natural pigments only on a small scale as their production has a high ecological impact of which we are aware. Among the natural pigments we use are avocado resiuos, indigo, pericon, marusch, cochineal, pecan shells, muitle, and pomegranate.

This environmental concern led us to look for an innovative alternative that could offer a solution to larger-scale projects. This is how we developed the Bi Yuu color palette, which complies with international standards for the textile industry, such as OEKO-TEX. These certified colorants are also ideal for LEED-certified projects.

We believe that each project, depending on the scale, the client, and season, may require one type or another of pigments. Knowing how to choose the most responsible option and the one that guarantees the quality of our projects is essential for the team.
